Does anyone know if Gen4 cross bars are compatible on Gen3's?

Thanks,
Shiv

I believe it depends on the gen3. If its your regular aussie one, it will depend on the type of cross bar. As far as Im aware they arent interchangeable between the aussie gen 3s and gen 4s as the gen3s have raised roof racks and the gen4 lowered. Well thats what I have gathered.

The gen 3 Legacy has the lowered roof racks which has made my search for some roof racks very tricky. I recently purchased some Subaru Cross bars designed for the aus delievered BH lib which to my dismay dont fit my Leg :( Does anyone know if the gen4 cross bars will fit the Legacy roof racks?

Oh ok, well mine is a regular AUDM spec Outback with the raised roof rails. I know the Gen4's adopted the integrated style which your JDM Gen3 would have.

Just did a search on the Rhino Rack website. It appears that despite the different rail system between the Gen3 & 4, the same roof rack can be used. I guess I answered my own question there. The only reason I asked is because an eBay seller said it came off his Gen4 but would fit a Gen3 as well, and I wasn't convinced.

Technically that means Gen4 racks should fit your JDM Gen3, BWS. That is assuming they're the same, which I *think* they are. Have you ever tried Gen4 racks on your car before?

Sorry I take that back. What I said applies only to the Outback. Gen3/4 = same Rhino roof rack.

I didn't realise at first, but there IS a difference between the roof rails on a Gen4 Lib and Gen4 OBK. Gen4 Lib is almost 100% flush. Whereas the OBK is raised a little, hence they use different bars.

I havent tried any 4th gen ones. But it might be worth a try at the next Melbourne meet.
