just replaced muffler on 2001 forester,175,000kms
idles very quiet @ 750 revs but noisy even when i switch on a/c
took back to muffler guy ,no leaks or loose fixings etc .my mech says the same
it sounds just like the one i replaced!!!
any thoughts guys.

So you replaced the oem muffler with an aftermarket one with the hope of changing the tone? What kind of muffler did you out on?

supplied by a muffler guy in gosford nsw ,no complaints.yes it is an a/m not oem but 1/2 the price of thatfrom
subaru.
Does not affect performance ,maybe thats how it should sound, maybe im being G.O.M.
Thought someone else may have had this experience to.

I put up with people from amnesty, red cross and now the cancer council almost daily hounding me!! Throw in the greens, green peace, unhcr, save the forking children and I've well and truly hit my limit for the number of fuckstains wanting me to sign something or give money. You replaced the standard muffler with a non standard muffler and you expected it to sound EXACTLY the same?

NO,did not expect the same sound,i rather like it ,a bit rexy for an old bloke like me .mayget other comments on the south coast run this sat.

if its from general mufflers theres your problem right there mate
