Welcome to November!
Only 53 days until Christmas and 60 days until 2015. This year has flown by way too quickly... Some important dates to remember this month:
- 4th November - Melbourne Cup
- 11th November - Remembrance Day
Remembrance Day marks the anniversary of the armistice which ended the First World War (1914-18). Each year Australians observe one minute silence at 11 AM in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts. - 16th November - International Day for Tolerance
The International Day of Tolerance promotes respect, dialogue, cooperation and tolerance of all cultures. - 20th November - Go Home On Time Day
Each year, Australians work more than 2 billion hours of unpaid overtime. Around half of all employees work more hours than they are paid for. On average, a typical employee works 49 minutes of unpaid overtime per day. For full-time workers, the average daily amount of unpaid work takes more than one hour. Overwork can have negative consequences for your physical and mental health, your relationships with loved ones and your sense of what is important in life.
