In other news the car seems to have either a hektik missfire at WOT or the clutch is slipping. I'm pretty sure the clutch was healthy when it came out so am working on a potential missfire first. Will get a uec and some new ignition gear first. Any other suggestions would be cool

Drive in 4th  gear @ 2K rpm, floor it, if it spin up to 5K real fast, clutch is fuked.

It'll kick and shakes but it will accelerate with the revs

Well i took it for a hoon tonight to move it around the parking spots at my house. No kicking or bucking when planting it. Stopped and put it in 4th and let the clutch out, just wanted to stall. So im going to say the clutch is ok. Still going to give it a UEC as it idles like its got a mad cam in it and it couldnt hurt

Yep, that sounds like a plan.

Do you still need the cooling system bleed ??

Yeah at some point. Id like get some of the mexico crew round to help transfer bits over at some point so that would be the best time :)

All I'm hearing is much day 😉

Anyway, torqued to spec is just the manuals way of saying 'we couldn't get it any tighter, see if you can'.

Nothing fancy but first non maintenance mod is done  :yahoo: Now that its my daily i got sick of handling the ball of ebola that was the old shift knob. STi 5 speed knob is in woooh. Hopefully going to swap the interior to some degree over the weekend

ywMwBx9.jpg

On the running crap front Ty gave it a drive and thinks its the plugs causing a miss so the ECU is retarding timing making it run like ass. The fact that if you shut it off for a while it runs fine supports that and cancels out clutch to me. Got some new spark plugs today but commitments get in the way so perhaps on the weekend ill find some time to put them in. After that its in desperate need of some unboatification and an alignment then sweggy wheels. Thinking ill do some DIY painting over the easter break

I had some time up my sleave today so rather than doing the interior I did some suspension bits. STi trailing arm goodness. Pain in the anus to install as theres very little play in them to get the bolts through. This made me think theyre shorter than the stock ones but theyre not. Just cubts i spose

W85iQUh.jpg

Rear end feels a bit tighter now. Will be good once the whole rear package is in with the coils and swaybar. Also bodged something together to stop the rear window leaking and making hecktic wind noise till i can get someone to look at it/look at it myself

They seem so far off when you install them dont they! Took a lot of man handling and levering before i just undid the lower control arms at the hub and tilted the hub

Will be awesome once all the bits are installed ;)

The first one i got into like a fetal position with the hub in my crotch and jammed it all together with my legs haha. Hurt like a bitch but I got it. Parents returned home after that so had dad insert the bolt while i pushed the hub from the back using my legs on the drivers side. Much easier that way

I'm not used to seeing pink bits on a subaru - are all STi bits like this?  And what's the difference in these trailing arms to stock - a tighter bush used or are the stronger/more lightweight??

Or are they just sprayed pink and called an STi part?!

Good to hear the handling is moving in the right direction.  You'd better not try driving my subi's then...  probably worse than a boat in your book!

Cheers

Bennie

Most STi parts are pink or some kind of red yes. These arms use a pillow ball instead of a bush so little to no movement in them. Exact same construction/metal as the normal arms. You can get lateral links that are made of aluminum though.
