Subaru Impreza WRX 2005
Estimated Completion. Mid December.
Owner. macca

I have recently bought a 2005 model WRX It has Log books and heaps of Sti upgrades, with body kit and Brembo brakes.

Receipts show that an Sti TMIC and genuine scoop were fitted , plus Sti injectors and intake pipes. Also a tuned 3” exhaust system and a VF34 turbo upgrade were fitted. Dyno tuned by MSR in Somersby, with 195kw on 18psi with 525nm of torque on 98 octane. So quite happy with the wee beastie atm. As it stands it is a well balanced machine for a daily drive, great on power, comfortable and easy to drive, and not too thirsty.

This photo shows the old stereo and dash which I have completely removed. The audio system that's going in is a Pioneer DVD touch screen, connected to an Audison DSP (Digital Sound Processor) with remote to also fit into the dash. The DSP is initially set up via a laptop computer to fine tune each speaker so that it gives it's ultimate sonic performance. It also harmonises all speakers, regardless of where they are placed, making the listener believe that they are in the middle of a concert. Many people believe the myth – the more speakers the merrier, Q: how many ears do you have? All I am fitting is one pair of hi end 6.5” drivers with crossovers and separate 1” titanium tweeters. For DVD movies I am putting in 2 x 7” touch screen monitors with PS3 controllers, plus two midrange speakers in the rear doors so that we will have the full surround sound. To cope with any Bass, there is just a single 12” enclosed, non ported, high power subwoofer which will live in the boot as part of the false carpeted partition, so all you see when you open the boot is the front face of the subwoofer and a receded amplifier. The partition also conceals all wiring, yet can be quickly moved to allow access for maintenance. This system is designed to reproduce very high quality music that sounds full bodied and rich.

This photo shows the centre of the dash removed, at this stage all power, video and speaker cables are being installed. Wiring for the gauges will also be fitted. I am also having some exterior and certain interior parts Aqua dipped – www.aquadip.com.au in Carbon Fibre which is far superior to wrap. Case your wondering Aqua dipping is how Mercedes and BMW get their plastic trim to look like walnut timber. However the guy is booked out for the next 4 weeks, but by then the audio system will be done and interior refitted.

Exterior wise,

I am about to commit sacrilege and remove the rear spoiler and replace it with a full Carbon Fibre Drift spoiler. I've seen other Rex's with these on and I love em. I am having a C West Sti front grill Aqua dipped in Carbon Fibre as well as replacing the bonnet with a custom, fully vented Carbon Fibre bonnet.plus flush pins. I will also fit a wide body kit. Looks damn sexy, even better in Blue.

Will post updates and photo's on progress :-D
