Hey guys, glad to be a member.

Not sure if this is right place to post.

I'm looking at buying my first turbo (I've had a string of NA liberty's in the past)

The car in question is a 1993 RS turbo with an EJ20H from a GT-B swapped in. As well as a TD05H turbo upgrade. Apparently the engine has 150,000kms and the timing and full service was carried out at a 100,000kms. A lot of the suspension had come from the GT-B also.

I looked at the car earlier today and it was remarkably clean for its age, minor marks on the bumpers and a small amount of paint peeling on the roof, no rust that I could find (though I didn't look too hard). Gearbox and clutch were very good and engine seemed smooth (not really sure what to look for).

Boost doesn't come on until 4k rpm which is a bit of an issue for me.

Anyway I'm pretty keen on it and plan on getting pre-purchase inspection at Haig Park Subaroo in Mitchell ACT to make sure I'm not getting myself a lemon.

Asking price is $3500 neg with a few months rego.

Any tips or pointers? Is it good value?

Yep, he seemed like a genuine bloke, and he certainly knew his Subarus.

Being Pete's car I would imagine it would be in reasonable condition.

With the boost coming on about 4k getting a decent electronic boost controller will help improve spool, instead of  using the boost tee.

That being said it will only come on around 3500 anyway so not much of an improvement but it wont be a problem as the gearbox loves sitting around 3k.

Pete's car.

Top bloke, Honest price/car and 4k boost sounds about right for a bleed valve controlled dinosaur spec TD05 on a 2L :)

+1 for Pete.

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

Hi, John Kay's nephew?

He said he was in the ACT with his nephew looking at an RS wagon.

+1 for Pete also. A genuine, honest guy.

Nope, not me. Must have been the guy who looked at it before me.
