Whats the best way blacking out my 3Gen grill

Im not a big fan of the chrome strip and keen to black out it but not sure what the best approach is. Is it just a matter of masking off the appropriate areas or do i just paint the whole thing excluding the badge? or is there a way of removing the chrome all together and taking it back to the base surface.

Also if anyone has done this and have end result pics id love to know ya method. Last time i painted a grill it just chipped away and flaked off.

Buy cheap second hand grille and experiment with that.

Only way to do it without worrying about forking it.

Plasti dip is shit.

For my grill I sand blasted the chrome off, you can remove this by hand with wet and dry sandpaper also.

Then plastic primed the bare plastic. I sprayed it then with textured bumper black paint which is hard and durable. Finally a coat of epoxy enamel satin black.

Its a pretty tough finish that doesnt easily chip.

I did mine with Plastidip, as Mark said it's not really great stuff.

I've had it on their almost 6 months and up close it's noticeably peeling in some parts, could have been better if I was more careful removing the tape though.

Vinyl wrap would be hard to use on that shape. Eventually heat will make it peel up anyway. Just go with Marks method, tried and true.
