Can i get a WTF. So when the RX engine died earlier tonight i put it down to fuel. Ive chucked 8ish L in it and still no start. The other weird thing that makes me think its not fuel is the dash warning lights (Oil, ABS, AIrbag etc) stay on albeit dimmer even with the key removed until the battery is pulled. There are no blown fuses and was running and starting perfectly fine up til now. My first plan for tomorrow is to pull a fuel line to see that im getting fuel as the dash lights could be unrelated. Ty seems to think its the key barrel which would explain the dash lights but i thought id throw it out there. Thanks in advance
Potato photo but you get the idea. Christmas tree of lights with the key off
inb4 get an SSM
25D - Crank no start/Warning lights no key

Properly reread your explanation (skim read before..)
I just know last time I had a Christmas tree, I waited by the side of the road for 4 hours for the NRMA to come and replace the alt haha.

Could be this. Try pulling the B+ wire off the back alternator and see if it kills the lights.
Maybe a faulty relay back feeding the ignition circuit, try pulling relays one by one.
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Would that do something even if the car/alternator is not running?

If the alternator is forked, it can feed voltage back into the ignition circuit.
If you pull the B+ wire with the engine off and the key off, and the lights go out, alternator is forked.

So what caused the dash lights to stay on?

Fuel pump sticking trying to prime maybe?
Doubt it.
Is it still doing it? Curious to see what it is.
