Just wondering if anyone has had problems with the alarm system.I have recently bought an 05 wrx hatchback. Every now and then when I stop the car say to refuel, the car won't start.I enter the code, all lights work, code is excepted it doesn't crank or anything. It eventually starts.Subaru can't find anything wrong, been to them twice.Such a pain. Any info or ideas would be great. Thanks Adam

There are huge problems with the Brant installed alarms on Subaru cars. Mostly people will just remove them and get another aftermarket one installed. Mine was doing the same thing as you describe above as well as causing my forester to cut fuel and stall while i was driving (it was the immobilization point to the fuel pump relay that was causing me the issue). I was unable to restart the car until it came to a dead stop, reset the ECU and clear fault codes so bloody dangerous. Pulled it out and installed a new system - no problems since.

I would be almost certain you're having the same issue i had. Is the fuel pump priming when you can't start it?

Both my house mates that have Wxr's 99 and the other is an 06 have both had problems like this. One was camping, went full Macgyver had to hot wire it with speaker cable and chewing gum. The other was more of a problem like your's. Either way they both pulled out the stock one and got after market, no problems since.

There is a bypass harness for the key ignition. this is a bit % of issues with the "earlier" brandts. 06 onwards didn't have anywhere near the issues.

Thanks for the info guys.yes the car primes just doesn't kick over.Every thing has been reset, got new keypad and full diagnostic done.subaru still can't find the problem. Time to rip it out. Should I be going to a sparky that specialise in Brant systems or just a good reputable alarm installer? Thanks again.

I would suggest as above, bypass harness or replace with an aftermarket. It will end up costing you more to find the problems and fix it than just getting a aftermarket. Plus with the aftermarket you dont need the key pad every time you get in and can just use your keys to get that cool blep blep sound

try this harness. honestly I don't think it is that expensive and you could always flog it if it doesn't fix your particular problem.

this could potentially save you $$$ in investigating the issue..

after my brother did this on his 03 didn't have another problem (it had 260000km on it when he sold it)
