Hey guys.

Need advice on whether or not obdII dash command like system will work in my blitzen. As an avid MCM fan I was quite pleased to see that the ipad 1 fit perfect into the center console of Martys mums car. I want to keep my car pretty sleeper like so making the interior look like a spaceship with a million gauges doesn't seem right and having an ipad or android tablet seems wonderful. Good to log what the car is doing and perhaps even the little one can watch her bullshit dora or frozen crap.

Please fill me with your knowledge and experiences!

Chur gee

Drew

What will I need to buy to plug into the ecu first? Is there a wifi or bluetooth transmitter that is open to all those monitoring/diagnostic apps?

I think it's the ELM327 unit that you can plug in, not sure how well that will work though with SSM.

Cable 'should' work - you can get a USB to SSM cable fairly cheap on ebay ~$12, just make sure its a FT232BL chipset.

I've had it working on my JECS JDM with a laptop and freessm, but no luck with torque over the USB to an android phone.

If you've got a later non-JECS - ie: gen3 Rev D, then you're likely to have more luck with many more cables, like Tactrix etc.

Aaaawwww snap, may have to do some crazy research. can put a elm327 onto both of my toyotas with the aid of an adapter but nothing so far has come up for "specific" searches for subys. they however do have a 9 pin to 16 pin adapter on trademe (essentially ebay nz) but I would say that is probably for older models.

When I was using Torque with my XR5, I tried it with my adapter on various Suby models one meet and couldnt get it to communicate on anything.

Its cos Subaru use SSM language. As far as I know the maker of Torque was working on SSM compatibility but I dont know where hes up to now. I think a special adapter was required as well, OBDKey?
