Hi, does anyone know of a decent subaru mechanic on the central coast.

I need a clutch replacement on a 97 liberty ej22.

I would do it myself but as I don't really have the facilities at the moment would consider paying someone to do it.

Yep michael wont touch it...and if he did he'll quote too much because he doesnt want to do it lol....i cant blame him though

he did change the clutch in my mates Forester 2.5 XS no dramas. i think it just depends on how busy he is.

And yep the busy factor is true....i think he mainly likes the tuning and engine builds....as when i asked him to do the turbo and clutch etc on the gen3 he quoted like 1500 bucks too much...hence i drove up to AM to get it done on the cheap lol

But last i talked to him he said he doesnt want anything older than a GD in his shop lol....he told me to feck the RS off when i drove over there in it hahaha...til i told him the plans and that hed only have to tune it

Just gonna bump this one up as it's relevant.

 

I'm currently in the process of getting some quotes on replacement shocks etc. for a 92 NA Liberty and was hoping some of the coasties still around here could point me in the right direction. I think I am just gonna go with some KYB Excel G's.

 

Normally I would just be installing everything myself, but I don't really have a convenient spot to do it at the moment. So far I have spoken to Coasteer Auto / Climax Suspension in Tuggerah and Tumbi Tyres. I will give Shelly Beach Mechanical a call next week.

 

After getting some quotes so far, I may still just find a way to do it myself after all. At the very least I will probably take it to one of the places for an all over suspension/steering check so I can get a rundown of what else is worn and needs to be replaced. I know I need to do the tie rods also.

 

So any advice on who is reputable and who to steer clear from around here would be appreciated. Also, if anyone knows of places for good prices on the KYB's (local or Sydney).
