cheers cliffo, im stoked with it, wanted a 12 but wasnt sure id get it.

after doing a putty road run last week, ive sort of come up with a plan for the future of the car (with the help of cam of course)

originally i was going to chase more power and go for 250kwatw, after a think about it, i was concerned on the reliability of it, being my daily, and also knowing that subys arent renowned for being power queens and the money involved, i decided against this.

after the putty road run i discovered the 2 key weaknesses in the car: tyres and brakes.

KU31s were uninspiring on the twisty stuff to say the least, and the brakes werent giving me much faith either. you could feel the potential in the suspension and chassis set up of the car and knew it wanted more, but these two were holding it back.

so the plan now is to fully upgrade as much of the brakes as i can keeping the stock set up. new rotors, pads, braided lines, high quality brake fluid and brake cylinder stopper.
combined with that will be some stickier rubber than the KU31s, thinking PS3's at the moment but still doing research here.

along with this, we will be working on some more suspension upgrades and some chassis bracing to make it handle even more so, and more reliability for the car, looking at radiator and cooling upgrades and potentially some sump upgrades.

its been a while between updates it seems.  since after the drags back last year i sort of neglected the car a little, left it to its daily duties and the occasional fun squirt, as work and other parts of my life got in my way.

a few weeks ago my car developed a pretty bad squealing noise, turned out my brakes were on their way out, so i parked the car up for a few days. only to discover when i bothered to have a look, that my tyres were also cactus!!!! i didnt really care about this, ive hated the KU31s since i picked the car up and was always planning to upgrade. my original plan wasnt to do brakes and tyres until later in the year, but these discoveries forced my timeline up a bit. so i thought we may as well make this a proper refresh and get the car to where i wanted!

Firstly the tyres. I did alot of research on this before i committed. i spoke to alot of people running different tyres, and alot of online research. my final decision came down to between Michelin pilot sport 3's and Bridgestone RE003's. both are excellent tyres and both had overwhelmingly positive feedback from everyone i spoke to, but in the end i got an excellent deal on some RE003's locally that i couldnt knock back, and im very glad i went this way. Ive never experienced a tyre that sticks to the road like these do. the initial turn in response and grip is unbelievable, i will have no trouble recommending these to anyone.

Next was the brakes. i ended up going RDA slotted fronts with some EBC Redstuff ceramic pads, and an OEM replacement pads and rotors in the rear (EBC and RDA equivalent OEM parts). again extremely happy with the choice, braking feels fantastic now and properly sorted. parts seen below.

Finally, the bane of my existence since ive owned the car. rear end links and bushes. ever since ive owned the car its made horrible noises from the mounts and links, and Cam told me from day one that this car was going to snap an endlink, and snap one it did. Out with the shitty multilink whiteline design, in with kartboy solid end links. again an excellent upgrade which has helped the car dramatically.

to celebrate this, i entered my car in the motorkhana at MCM nationals over the weekend, and loved every second of it. car felt great in all aspects of the event, and i had an absolute blast throwing it around the course! thoroughly recommend getting out and having a crack at these (Maybe a subyclub motorkhana day later this year as an event???  ;)  ;)  ;)

plans for the rest of this year:
- ill be getting a PW CAI for it later this year, ready for a new tune around july august time.
- id love to throw a TD05 20g on it, but this will depend on funds at the time. got some other big things happening non car related in life so need to balance it all.
- drive it and enjoy it!

my thanks go to Cam and Lachy for helping me with working on the car as always!

Nice one Mark.

I just fitted some RE003's to mine and so far they seem fine. My first choice was some Yokohama AD08R's but they are NLA in my size.

I'm interested to see how the Bridgestones hold up near the end of their life.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
