Sounds like an air lock or blocked hoses

Running the car should have helped purge it though

That takes the coolant upon expansion in yhe coolant system and sucks it back in when cooled down

It should only ever be filled up to the full mark max

The header tank in the pic i showed you is where you fill the coolant system from

Word of wisdom...research a good diy on the net for a coolant swap as subarus are notoriously bad to purge of air and you should have a bit of an idea of what to do to ensure you dont cook your motor

As running it without coolant till the fans turn on is very bad for the car..as without coolant in the system the twmp sensor will not read right

Did you make sure there was no air in the system?

Also coolant flush is suppose to be drained out after a while.

Don't forget you also need to put coolant in

How long did you run the motor to make the fans go?

you have been running the motor with no water in the cooling system...you might have cooked the motor

go back and read what people are telling you.

1. coolant goes in the header tank - the thing with the radiator cap

2. coolant flush must be removed (drained) and replaced with coolant

3. read a proper procedure on coolant replacement for subarus - air locks are common and must be avoided.

What made you decide to change the radiator, was it overheating before you did that?

If not, it does seem possible that running the engine with no coolant (overflow bottle doesn't count) may have cooked the motor. You may have just ruined the head gasket and possibly warped the heads.

I will feel really bad for you if that's what happened. I learned the hard way that you don't run an engine without coolant ( had to swap my ej25 due to that very reason).

Whatever steps you take now, maybe get some help before you make it worse.

not sure if real or trolling

Have you put any more thought into squeezing some more power out of the engine. Like strapping on one of those intake fans

This is how I understand it...

As running it without coolant till the fans turn on is very bad for the car..as without coolant in the system the temp sensor will not read right

Yep.

The coolant temp sensor is just that, temp of coolant. It will not read (shows cold on instrument cluster) as it will not work without coolant surrounding it so there is a risk the engine was stinking hot, but showing cold on the cluster.

you have been running the motor with no water in the cooling system...you might have cooked the motor

I feel a blown head gasket coming on......

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
