This is driving me nuts, I'm on the verge of cutting the wires.

The obd2 socket on the lower trim has a big frame around it. Supposedly you remove the white clip where the wires enter and it "should just come out". I've removed the white clip and spent hours trying to get the socket out of its frame.

I don't even know if it goes in our out!
There's nothing about this in the factory service manual, at least not that I've found.
