Hey guys I was looking on the RTA site and saw that I was allowed on my p's a 1999 WRX turbo intercooled but not a WRX turbo. Can someone please explain the difference between the two to me and why one is p plate legal and the other is not?
Thanks guys

because the RTA are retarded fuckwits ?

there hasn't been a non-intercooled subaru since the EA82T in the mid 80's.

EDIT: sorry, I forgot about the EJ22T in north america.

I think you need to go on the 130kW/tonne limit and ignore the other stuff.

So if I called up the RTA about the 'turbo' WRX do you reckon they'd allow it?

well..

160 kW/1300 kg std WRX GC8 - you're fine

224 kW/1300 kg STI - bzzzt.

go on the 130kW/tonne, and 'no engine modifications'.  That's all that matters.

The only thing I can find there is that the MY99 Manual Sedan is slightly lighter than the MY00
It is also lighter than the 99 Auto Sedan and Manual Hatch by 30kg

That's gold and just about as good as the last Victorian VSI vehicle mods list I've seen...

Best of luck with it. Down here it amazes me just how many turbos and V8s you see p platers driving when they're not legally allowed to (although these revs have changed AGAIN!).

Cheers
