Call CEVA Logistics,
Depot to Depot about $800 when I last looked

The first car I bought and moved had an unregistered vehicle permit,
The second one I didn't bother. Just shipped it un rego'd

Have also heard many positive reports of CEVA moving cars around AU without messing with anything or causing damage.

Hey guys!
Thanks for your replies! Really helpful. If i was to get a unregistered permit from victoria and then ship it to hobart. The car will get to hobart without a insurancr right? So do i go to the transport office to get it registered then do the insurance? Will that mean i do not have to bring the car to the transport department? How about the road worthy cert? Sorry still not sure what to do once i get the car in hobart. Can someone please advice. Thank you'll so much! Cheers!

Is it coming from a car yard or private sale?

-As soon as you purchase the car, before it leaves the other persons possession, you call your insurance company and get a Cover Note on it.

-If you choose to get an unregistered vehicle permit, you need to get that done in Victoria so that the car is legal to drive on the road for 28 days.

-Once you get it to Hobart, you book it in with a registered inspection station for a full roadworthy (about $120). An interstate roadworthy certificate is not applicable in Tas.

-If it passes roadworthy inspection, the inspector will give you the paperwork to take to the Transport Dept, and you go in with your proof of purchase, plus that certificate of roadworthy and they will register it.

-You then call your insurance company again and work out the finer details of your policy.

No worries mate.

it seems a bit daunting at first,
but once laid out in a logical timeline it's a pretty easy process.

And there's no way I could get a car back from melbourne including flights, boat, taxi, fuel, food, etc for the price
