I have been considering installing a manual switch on the dash wired to the main cooling fan and indication lights to tell when the cooling fans are operating. My only concern is will installing such a switch and indication lights play havoc with the ECU has anyone else ever attempted this.

Currently the ECU controls the radiator cooling fans I guess I would just like to have manual control over this instead of the ECU. Any Iicon_question.gificon_question.gifdeas

There's nothing to gain from this, unless perhaps you're building a drift car or drag car and want the fans running straight away (because you're about to mash the car).

Least shit way to do this as an override (retaining ECU behaviour when switched off) is to have your switch send 12v to the fan relay.

Take your LED feed from the same pin on the relay, so that your LED lights up regardless of the source of the power (ECU vs your switch).

Again, don't bother, this is 100% rice.
