After a six week break from rallying, Subaru do Motorsport driver Molly Taylor heads south for Southern Safari Tasmania this weekend.

In a move aimed at keeping her skills honed for the balance of the mainstream Australian Rally Championship (ARC), which resumes next month, Molly will compete together with co-driver Bill Hayes in the short and sweet Safari tomorrow (Saturday), organised by the 500 Car Club of Tasmania.

The Subaru duo will use their ARC All-Wheel Drive WRX STI NR4, backed by the local Tasmanian expertise of the Les Walkden Rally team.

An eclectic field of around 26 entrants will participate in the six-hour Southport-based Safari, including some classic local and overseas specification WRX variants.

It will be Molly’s debut in the Apple Isle event, which covers 11 stages over 98.86 competitive kilometres. The longest stage is 12.52 km.

The event is Round Three of the Eastern Autobody Tasmanian Rally Series.

Since Rally Queensland, Molly has been pursuing more Subaru Ambassador activities and also fitted in a quick trip to Europe, which included spectating at Rally Finland.

Molly said: “While it’s been great to have a break, with Rally South Australia due in early September, we’re glad to have the chance to get some valuable time in the car in Tasmania, even if it’s going to be a lot colder than the European summer!

“We can’t wait for the ARC to reactivate and this weekend’s Safari is a good way to prepare.”
