Now that my B4 can get up to some speed I'm thinking about a brake upgrade.

It has been asked before and I've done some reading. What wasn't clear is what will easily fit under stock BBS rims. Brembos? WRX 4 + 2 pots?

If I cannot get better calipers at a reasonable cost I might just throw on some slotted disks with decent pads.

What are my options? As with everything on this car, I want the best bang for buck; not gold plated.

And....Go!

4 pots don't fit under stock BBS without spacers so no chance of fitting brembos.

Gen 4 H6/GT are probably best bang for buck and will probably fit under the wheels

- Thanks. Are the Gen 4 H6/GT 4 pots? Can someone confirm if they fit or not?

They are two pots

Can't see why they wouldn't fit
Although most people ask drug money for them ~350 bucks for a set

Better off to get new rotors and really good pads

- In that case, can anyone recommend any quality disks and pads? Probably a question asked before: dimpled, slotted or both?

How about Tribeca front brakes with new LGT rotors?

316mm -- can be had for a couple hundred bucks for a pair of calipers.

EDIT: but I'm guessing these won't fit under BBS 16"

Unless your doing repeated, hard stops, slotted and or dimpled are purely for show.

Ive found the Dixcel type M pads to be excellent.

I'm running the type M pads on standard RDA rotors all round.

Between the 4 pots and the 2 pots, there's not that much in it. It sounds silly but I remember reading a thread on NASIOC, someone did some extensive testing and found the difference in performance between the two was barely something to write home about.

Infact, I'm eventually ditching the 4 pots and going back to the standard 2 pots.

Some good pads, rotors, braided lines and fluid would be more than ample.

Could even do a full overhaul with a new seal kit and re-grease the slides. Even a nice lick of paint to finish.

Save your cash and just improve what you already have as they are more than up to the task.

Failing that, go the 316mm rotors and big 3.0R/GT 2 pots.

I've used the standard calipers and 4/2 calipers. Bum dyno says no change. Also swapped B4 brake booster/BMC for GDB BB/BMC. Bum dyno says there's a slight improvement but if you didn't know it'd been done you prob wouldn't notice it.

So like Jim says, a caliper overhaul with rotors, pads & fluid will do the trick.

Crusty Brembo's on the cheap, and a set of 02 GD STi 18x7.5" wheels. Not much difference between B4 brakes and Gen4 GT/H6 as others have said.

I was taking mine to a Subaru specialist mechanic, he would track and service track driven cars. He really vouched for just going with genuine pads and rotors. The B4 is heavy for its size and I'd cook the brakes often pulling it up (automatic).

If your trying to save coin, just do the discs and get a decent set of pads. I'm running slotted DBA's on mine and they are great. Just maybe paint your stock calipers for  bit of bling.
