G'day,

So I've recently heard about partsouq and ventured onto the site to check it out.

I've gone to European Subarus, put my VIN in and am now looking at parts.

This is all on the mobile - so I probably really need to hit up the computer for a better view of the Internet ;)

Questions (prior to using the computer - where it may become obvious):

- How do you find the part numbers of specific parts?

- How do you find out what's in a kit? - for instance an engine seal kit, what exactly is in it?

- How old can their system go for parts using the VIN?

I need to get a full gasket kit for the EJ20G, plus some pipes in including an intake pipe. I'm also after a clutch cable for a brumby.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Bennie

I used to go here for part numbers. I haven't used partsouq yet. http://opposedforces.com/parts/

I put my VIN for the WRX and get sent to Toyota with parts not found. Lol. And I can't find a parts catalogue for the 2015 WRX. I figure maybe a JDM VIN would work, but haven't found one yet to try or that works.

For partsouq -- I just whack my VIN in and then browse the diagrams for the parts.  Parts diagram breakdowns are provided just like opposedforces list (but you have the benefit of knowing it applies to your VIN)

For gasket kits etc - not sure if that's applicable.

I think, as you say, it becomes obvious on the computer.

Thanks for the links for part numbers. I've previously used http://parts.subaru.com/ for part numbers.

Another question I forgot to ask - what currency is typically shown for the cost of parts? USD?

Cheers

US Dollars.

I too will be making my first Part Souq order. My parts list is there I just have to commit. I find myself always finding a new part that needs replacing and therefore the process delays. :P

How long has it taken ppl to compile their order list for a number of different items?

Shortest/longest times?

Took me a night to be honest, I just add to the list here and there ever since. I literally went through all of the diagrams at opposedforces for my model and added items that I need new or replaced.

It really isn't difficult to do once you get into the swing of things. Better yet your list saves so you can come back to it in a week without losing what you want to order.

OK, so there are 4 different part numbers for head gaskets for my RS turbo VIN.

How do I know which is the one to go for?

I'm having some fun getting the order together.  Using the computer is so much better than viewing on the mobile!

I also spent a bit of time searching part numbers the way I used to on that parts site I previously mentioned.  That was a waste of time in most regards but has been good as a general reference.  I've been writing down what I've ordered so I can compare to the cart at the end of the day and ensure I've got everything I need.

Cheers

Bennie

Head gasket part numbers to consider:

The four listed on the catalog:

11044AA354

11044AA355

11044AA352

11044AA080

Some substitutes listed:

11044AA482

11044AA483

11044AA353

I'm confused.  How do I find out information regarding thickness etc?  I just need an as factory standard HG for an EJ20G!

If anyone can help out I'd greatly appreciate it!

Cheers

Bennie

i use opposed forces to find part numbers, then cross reference with google the number to see what comes up

I have a master spreadsheet i use to keep track of my stock and future orders..

i have some nerdy shit in there that allows me to keep track of qty's on order, qty's sold and some pricing etc to allow me to make the most effective orders..

Word of warning.. DO NOT rely on the site to keep your cart! it will randomly empty your cart for no forking reason. i have had many cases of this happening and when you're ordering 2 pages of parts.. it is devastating

Hmmm. That's not good news.

Any ideas on the HG I should go for?

I got in contact with my builder today. Race pistons it is - almost at double the quoted price over the phone before I took it in :( so the parts order is about to be reduced to essentials only at this point rather than a "might as well replace that too" attitude...

Yeah it does Moto... I can now see why some people go all out with rods and crank - the engine is split, you've got the "expensive" pistons, might as well go the other two upgraded items while you're there...  I'm not though!

So I'm trying to pay for my parts order tonight using the trusty (ready to go) credit card, but it won't authenticate.  Very frustrating.

Anyone else had this issue??  To pay via paypal I'm going to need to do some fund shuffling to have the money in the right account...  frustrating!

Cheers

Bennie

And the order has been processed - finally!!

Now to wait for its arrival.  What are the typical time periods people experience between placing an order and receiving it?

Hmmm, so this arvo they refunded me quite a bit of money.

When I placed my order I went through it to make sure all the bits were in stock. Now to cross reference numbers to see what's missing. I'm pretty frustrated atm!
