I'm on my phone, but I'm sure our member Morgan did a DIY on this ages ago.

Maybe try a search?

There will be something here on how to do it.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

I think it was Gen2 now that you mention it.

GenIII is pretty much the same, just piggybacking the outer set of lights.

I did one for the AUDM Gen 2 lights using what I believe is the trailer loom behind the drivers side boot trim.

I have also done a Gen 3 Legacy garnish on my Outback but didn't write anything up. If it's a genuine Leggy garnish, it should have bulbs and wiring. Simply splice into the tail light wiring. I have a feeling it's an easier job in the wagon.

I ended up connecting my number plate light wiring to the boot "night light", turns on with head lights and becomes brighter with the brake light.
