Good morning all,

First I want to say that I am not a Subaru owner but I have a customer that is and looking for a little input here.

She bought a Subaru from the dealer in Denver, CO It's a 2005 Outback. By the way, TERRIBLE customer service regarding used cars with that dealership.

She didn't even make it 2000 miles and the motor took a crap on her, Blew out a connecting rod. I towed it to a dealer and they put a used motor. They put a used motor in her car and it is running again but the power steering pump is bad on this replacement motor.

From what I can see, the power steer pump changed from 2004 to 2005.

Is there a way to identify what year this replacement motor is so I can order the proper PS pump?

I am guessing it is now a newer motor (2005 +) but don't want to get the wrong one.

There is a stamp on the top of the engine, "AB 99". Is that  the year?

Thank you for any and all replies,

Dave

There is a casting on the top of the motor that says EJ25. Is that the code needed?

Haha. Your funny. Why pity them when I'm just trying to go the extra mile for this lady and find out what year the engine is so when she needs parts in the future, there would be no guesswork for her. Don't get me started on how many more Subaru's I see in my shop than any other vehicle. Talk about pity.

Surely the PS pump has a part number on it that you could do a google search with?

If you see so many Subaru's, why are you asking what EJ25 means ?

I smell troll.

Here's a clue-bat, just in case you're serious (but I still pity your customer).

Yeah it's written under the oil cap. But if someone swapped the cap then then would make it wrong.

I can't believe I would come to your forum to ask a simple question and get attached like that. What I said is the truth. Broke down Subaru's have been a really good source of income this past summer and per manufacturer, it has been the one I have seen the most of.

Enough said because I know you guys love these cars.

I do thank you guys that tried to help, but don't worry, I did figure it out just after I wrote the last time. I thought that maybe I could find a wealth of knowledge here for future reference since Subaru are  such repeat customers, but a few has made me not want to come back.

Hope I don't see any of you decent Subaru drivers broke down.

Look mate - they're are plenty of people here willing to help with real problems... but you need to put a bit of effort in yourself. 30 seconds on google would have found the answer you were looking for.

Funny how Subaru's seem to have a bad rep In America. That's because America builds the Subaru's for their market. Obviously their build quality isn't as good as Japan.

Luckily, we here in Australia we receive Japanese built Subaru's.

Japanese built Subarus are the only way to start modifying for an Aussie "built" Subaru ;)

Shame you don't get the Japanese factory drivetrain. American Subaru dealers must hate that...

The USMB might be a good forum to check out too. You might make some good contacts there too. Loads of info and crazy builds!

Cheers

You joined a Subaru enthusiast forum then proceeded to dump on the brand!
How is that working out for you?

And about whether you return here or not, I don't think it's possible I could care any less because of your shitty attitude.
