I recommend checking inside the guard just in front of each front door on your car.  Mine had years of detritus built up inside between the guard and body shell.  Needless to say a garden hose using a jet attachment plus I used a section of cardboard to protect over-spray and splash from the interior.  The attached photo is after flushing the passenger side, given most of the dirt etc flushed away into the gutter yet there's still a heap left on the concrete.  Well worth doing especially as it's summer so will dry out nicely.
