Hey all,

Probably a can of worms, but just wondering where people recommend to get a Suby serviced in Sydney?

Cheers,

Mike

(Note: I have little to no knowledge of car servicing or maintenance - but would love to learn how to do things)

Whereabouts in Sydney are you located?

I have experienced ICHIban in Ingleburn and All Drive Subaroo in Peakhurst. Both have professional staff and are great workshops. Definitely get a quote from both parties.

I have never taken my car to a dealership for a service and probably wouldn't unless I knew the mechanics personally or was forced to under warranty.

Wanting to buy/looking for: single genuine STi rim, genuine STi front lip, Corazon or Zero/Sports grille and another OEM grille

Can you hook a brother up? Please contact me now. I have cash ready.

I went to Suttons at Rosebery for my first service, they were ok. Really just look around. For a daily it won't matter all too much, just pick a local place that services Subarus. I picked a bloke in Bondi Junction who serviced all sorts, and over 4 yrs had no problems.

Thanks for the replies lads. Shall look into those places.

I've got a '06 Impreza Hatch that's my daily and my first legitimate car and keen to build a good relationship with a mechanic. I'm in Macquarie Park but I'm happy to travel if the place is good. Shall have a look around and try find somewhere decent.

May be a tad far if you're going from Macquarie Park to Ingleburn but depending on what you want to do it may just be worth it both in service and from your pocket.

Get an introduction topic written up with some pics of your car. ;)

Buffalo Rd, North Ryde. There's a Subaru service centre there. Plus a lot of good mechanic workshops on that road near the bus depot. Also a shop on corner of Cox's and Badajoz, he does a lot of classic cars. That's all I know in that area.

I just picked up my new MY17 wrx at Subaru roseberry they told me if I take it anywhere else it will void my warranty?

I got 5yr Subaru warranty plus extra 3yr suttons warranty ? so 8yrs all up.

That's horseshit. Won't void your warranty if you take it to a licenced mechanic.

However read this from motoring.com.au

'New cars must be serviced at specified intervals by someone qualified to carry out that service and who will use lubricants and replacement parts that meet manufacturers specifications. This does not compel owners to have their cars serviced by a franchised dealer but the work must be carried out by a workshop qualified for the task.

The franchised dealer versus independent workshop is a difficult area. By letter of the law you can use any qualified workshop to service the car and still be covered. In practice, failing to stay within the franchise dealer system can cause problems if a failure occurs.

Should you choose to service your new car outside of the normal franchised dealer system and the car company attributes the damage to something done, or not done, by an independent workshop, the manufacturer may not honour its warranty. Consider this when making a decision especially with new cars from prestige brands.'

PS if you are getting your WRX tuned by a 3rd party you can wave goodbye to warranty for most things involved with the engine. Tuning/performance modifications won't affect recalls though.

5 yr subaru warranty will stay if you service it following the book and have records as proof.

The extra 3 years will likely have its own PDS or policy and that probably states that you must service the car at the selling dealer to maintain it.

The reason the dealership usually throws in the extra 3 years warranty is so that they can retain you as a service customer and make money that way.

Either way you still have your statutory rights on top of that.
