Hey

Wasn't doing it this morning, but tonight, the sunroof is fouling on the roof as it lowers itself before retracting backwards.

Almost as if it's trying to go backwards too early before it's low enough?

Anyone have any ideas why this might have all of a sudden started happening?

Video for explanation

Check from inside the car if both sides look the same. I noticed on my 2010 liberty that on the drivers side, there is a long plastic part that came loose and had to be pushed back into position.

I will try to take a pic tomorrow but if you look around you might notice something out of place on either side.

That plastic bit has come loose for me as well however did not prevent the sunroof from opening. My guess is that the rubber is catching somewhere or rubbing too hard which causes the system to "reset" if you could call it that.

That rubber expands and shit. On rainy days I would have to make sure rubbers were sealing properly on foz otherwise water would get in. Maybe lube it up.

It wouldn't be too different to my sunroof though. I've not experienced any issues like this or had to lube it up.

Anything stuck in the tracks?

Wasn't able to give this much attention over the weekend. Went down tonight to have a look and the seal was pretty much stuck to the roof :s Could hear the motor trying to do its job but it was really stuck on the roof!

Plastic bit seemed to be in the correct position and functioning properly.

Cleaned the edge of the roof where the cutout begins and put a light layer of grease in the dirts place. I've no idea how to actually lube the seal as it's always hidden...

After applying the grease, I put the glass in the closed position, then down, then up and down. Many times. Reapplied some more grease and did it again.

It now seems to be working as usual and I will keep an eye on it over the next few days to see if it continues to improve.

Thanks all for your help ;)

Nice work man. Would WD40 (or Windex) have the same effect?

Use a 'dry lube' type lubricant next time Morgs.

This way the dust and dirt can't stick to the lube.

:)

Good tip, Hooney. Will get some. Any recommendations?

WD40 wouldn't be ideal, Gaz as it evaporates quickly.

Fair point. A good temporary fix to see whether it actually is the rubbers catching though.
