Howdy Gang,

(Hi I'm Troy McClure) You might remember me from such cars as the 2001 Liberty RX with a JDM Legacy kit.

Well that project got moved on and here we are. In a Gen 4 Liberty! This time with real woosh sounds and real go!

It's a 2006, MY07 Liberty GT Spec B manual 6spd with parts transplanted from a tbSTI model.

Engine Mod list:

-VF52

-Process West TMIC

-1000cc injectors

-Kobe motorsport silicone intake

-3 port boost solenoid

-Kobe fuel pump

-3" dump pipe

-New HKS La clutch with lightened flywheel (I hate it! lol)

It's making bang on 200kw atw on E85 with a KiDo tune. (Has more in it I'm sure but trying to keep within the limits of the stock block)

Attached File  IMG_1023.PNG   341.45KB   24 downloads

Exterior Mod list:

-ROTA Gravels 18x8.5

-Full lip kit, side skirts, rear pods

-Honeycomb grille

-HKS180 headlights

-Stanza roof spoiler

-tbSTI boot

-JDM folding mirrors

Suspension:

-MCA Blue Coilovers

-Brembos with Dixcel pads

-STi Strut brace

-J Speed LCA bushes

Interior mods:

-STi Seats

-STi door cards

-STi trims /kick panels

-STi MY13 Steering wheel with S402 airbag

-STi gear knob

-COBB 6 speed double adjustment short-shifter with CorgiWerx bushings

-Vent boost gauge/voltmeter/AFR

-Diamond Works Si drive cover

-Red stitched gear and handbrake boots

ICE:

-Pioneer AVH3600DAB headunit

-Factory Satnav

-Fusion En3004 4 channel amp.

I can't take credit for the mods as I bought the car as is. The plan for this one will be to drive and maintain!

Future plans-

-Reseal headlight due to condensation.

-Respray wheels

-Full paint correction

-Replace Fusion amp with JVC or Alpine PDX

-Subwoofer

-Xforce 3" catback (in two minds about this, currently it's got the power gains from a 3" dump and quietness of a stock catback system... time will tell)

-BOV (again, maybe...)

-MSR dyno tune

-Enjoy and maintain

Anyway, thats it from me, heres some photos.

Bloody hell Gen IV's are just sexy. Looking really nice man. Is that photo just under Tom Ugly's bridge?

I know exactly where you are man. Good part of the world. I'm actually moving to the Shire early next year. ;)

Thanks for the kind words gents.

Sparesbox had a 20% sale so I was a bit naughty. 24d2b2bf18eb142522c45821191c8606.jpg

Decided I wanted to be more like a Bankstown wrx so enter a 3" xforce catback. It came with these huge angle cut 4" tips. I did not realise how big they were.

Still waiting on the midpipe section, hopefully it turns up today so I can put it on. Then it's time to drive like a granny till I can get a tune.

Nonsense, I had a full TBE, FMIC and intake on my 07 GTB, never had it tuned. Loved it.

Lol, I have too much mechanical sympathy to do that. Besides I can't really afford to thrash anyway! Currently getting 300km to a tank on E85.

Will be going back to 98 soon to make it more driveable :)

I've got a cat back exhaust with no tune. Doesn't seem to bother the car at all but I can understand your thinking.

I love the big tips haha. I ask when mine was getting tuned whether it would be a problem if i got an exhaust without a re tune and matt said its fine aslong as you dont remove any O2 sensors. I've gotten less then 300 to a tank in my daily :/

Thanks again for kind words.

I've got the 3" catback on now and to be honest I'm a little bit disappointed. Not really the sound I was after.. it could be the stainless steel hasn't bedded in yet. Will give it some time to get some carbon build up.

It's very quiet, for all the hype of xforce drone I don't really get it? When you load it up there's a bit of rumble but apart from that it's almost silent inside the car.

Not really getting the wrx-ish rumble so I'm confused if my dump has a really restrictive cat?..

Also not sure whether the bellmouth design I.e. Splitter or not? Does it affect sound?

Would appreciate some advice, maybe video samples?

Thanks guys.

Definitely wait for some carbon build up before making up your mind but I'm not too sure why it does sound so restrictive. I know it may not mean nothing for you as I've got a 3.0RB, but here is a link to my exhaust set up; 2.25" Xforce front muffler and Y-pipe assembly with TCP Auto quad mufflers.

I'm not sure how long I had the set up before making the video but I do remember it being ever so slightly on the silent side of things. But this set up is raspy as opposed to getting the boxer rumble of course.

Toby,

You need UEL headers for rumble.

Once headers are on go get tune, and then it should be suhweet.

MY07 GTB factory headers are unequal length and no different to WRX ones.

It's the exhaust. I know plenty of Gen4 2.5T's that rumble.

Got a small sound clip, hopefully quality isn't too bad.

It definitely sounds a lot better on the outside.

I'm wondering does different AVCS timing/tuning affect exhaust note?
