2005 wrx turbo upgrade

Hi all i wanna upgrade my stock turbo to a vf39 turbo on my 2005 wrx. My question is cN i use my stock uppipe or will i need a bigger one im doing fuel pump injectors stuff like that just need to know bout the uppipe side of things. Thanks

Your stock one would have a Cat. Going catless for the up pipe would be worth a few kw, possibly better spool as well.

But not only that, I have seen a stock one crack and break. Possibly due to a dodgy installer and not enough support.
But it's not hard to change for extra piece of mind.

Pretty much any up pipe thats not from a bugeye will be fine. GC8 WRX one will be catless and fit perfect being OEM

If you're going with a larger turbo and upgrading the up-pipe I'd be inclined to do the headers while you have them off.

 

Ultrex/LKando/PSR do them for ~$800?

 

I gained 25nm and 20 odd hp @ hubs on my 02 STI with the header and 3 port upgrade
