hi guys

i was wondering if i can replace the old ugly manual air-con controls in my 2007 X luxury forester to the ones from the XS luxury? i like the look of the automatic ones but i don't know if it's just the matter of replacing the controls or something else inside the HVAC system, please refer to the attached photos for guides.

i appreciate your replies and help.

Generally you need to replace the whole heater and aircon box behind the dash as well as some sensors and looms. Not worth the effort generally

I would imagine the HVAC module wold share data with other modules, such as ecm for air con clutch control.

As above, not worth it.

Probably be more cost effective to sell the X and buy an XS and enjoy all the other goodies.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

I was under the impression that those buttons are purely cosmetic as all the fuctions looks identical.

If you have a mate or know someone in a forester group that would be willing to take their panel out and test it in yours would save you a lot of time.
