I've been running 2 of those exact catch cans for a while, pretty good value! Only the can between the block and PCV seems to do anything though, the can for the rocker covers never gets anything.

Be interesting to see that on a dyno oneday!

No PCV is as stock. When the PCV closes on boost the crankcase goes via the catch can

So after how ever many months, my GTB rear seat finally arrived :D Had to get it shipped from the other side of the city as the Import Monster warehouse is still in stage 4 but was a very reasonable price so why not

In other news i had to get a new wastegate actuator as the previous one sat on the side, this one sits up top and fits. HKS shield swapped on because of course

Looking good Barbs. Do recommend making a heat sheild up for your brake master looking at that photo. Shouldn't be hard for a man of your skills to knock something up. Last thing you need is for the brake pedal to suddenly start going soft and lose all your brakes. New seat looks tops!

Cheers,
Ben

MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it. In process of being stripped and sold off.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon. Scrapped.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. Scrapped.

MY13 BRG, current daily, very nice to drive, small mods to make it even nicer again.

The turbine housing will have a heat shield so should be fine. Never had any issues with the same setup and a VF. Even in the twistys

I'm honestly wondering why I have so many dramas with my clutch setup after hearing of everyone else not having issues... As soon as the engine bay starts getting stinking hot in mine, I start having clutch dramas. Maybe its time for a new clutch master...

Cheers,

Ben

Ive had it be an issue on absolute stinker days. Like 35+ sitting in traffic. Would stick to the floor but pull it back up and it comes good.

If i were you id switch to the GD style with remote res so it clears your intercooler better and gets it out from under the oven

Stumbled across an aussie company that sells new bolts in all sizes and styles for a very reasonable price and couldnt say no to some new 10mm bolts in fresh silver zinc.

Most bunnings bolts or champion stand bolts are yellow zinc and non flange head. These are basically as oem as you get without going oem lol

Another box of fittings and bits arrived so ticked a few things off the list

Handy dandy 3/8 barb to -6AN adaptor for the power steering lid. Did have to open it up like 0.1mm as its a 10mm barb and 3/8 is like 9.9 or something stupid

Neato

With the PS done the hot pipe went in and started the catch cans
HNy0zTE.jpg

Can also see the red (not happy but best i could get on short notice from a local race shop) fire sleeve over the PS lines

3/8 is actually 9.5mm, hence why you can see the barb so much more. Looking good though dude. And I wouldn't be stress about the red sleeve. By the time everything is back in place, you wont see it. That and I reckon the colour is actually technical related. Different colours have different ratings agaonst temp, various types of oils etc.
Been a while since I've used it, but that rings a bell. We had some sections on the smelter I worked at that ran the red stuff and most of the rest of the plant ran the plain off-white stuff.

After doing some tinkering i realised the angle of the intake pipe is exactly 45 degrees. I then realised its a piece of piss to stretch a 3" joiner over the 80mm turbo inlet.

So with a trip to autobarn for a 3" 45 joiner we have a full 3" intake. This means i need to redo the ports for breathers/IACV. So i went to the local hardware shop and picked up a 3/4" irrigation fitting and matching nut, drilled a hole in the silicone bend to about 1 or 2mm under the size of the fitting, then smashed it through and tightened the nut on the back sandwiching the silicone between 2 flanges. Commodore heater hose cut up for the iacv pipe and jobs done
kscFQUT.png
FEz9Ud4.png

Fingers crossed it works

With the intake sorted the engine bay is mostly complete

This is why I love Sunday nights - updates from Barbs!!

I’d look at putting some sort of locktite type product on that nut in the intake. Last thing you want to happen is have that drop off and end up in the turbo - that’ll ruin your day quickly!

Keep up the good work, all that blek on white looks crisp ;)

Cheers

Careful with loctite and plastics - I don't think they are very good with eachother!

I think you'd be better off and safer removing that inside nut and gluing the fitting from the outside.
