Anyone around on the central coast that knows how to replace the compressor bearing or whatever it is thats making a loud husky whining noise!? or can point me in the direction to a video or write up explaining how to do it. Its for a 05 wrx.
The a/c still works fine, its just noisy af.

Could be you idler pulley creating pressure on the compressor bearing. Take the belt of and spin the bearing if it doesn’t make noise then take a closer look at the idler pulley.

Thanks, I just loosened the tensioner and the pulley just a tiny bit and it has seemed to have stopped making the noise

The noise ended up coming back after a little while, so I ended up loosening the tensioner off and spun the pully with my hand and made the noise it was making and would just keep spinning and was told if that happens then the bearing is stuffed, so bought a new one from repco for $57 I think it was, fitted in about 10 minutes and we are good again.
