Got It Rex are playing silly buggers with me. Don't bother looking to get auto stubs from them.

Order them from https://www.subaruge...to-parts/subaru or https://partsouq.com/

I do, tried partsouq but they don't have it in stock.

I'll try the other one you mentioned.

I found some part numbers that I think match by finding a diagram for the stubs and pulled the seal and circlip numbers from that.

The numbers I have are:

38415AA070 - Auto stubs.

805329010 - Circlips.

806730031 - Seals.

Partsouq don't have stock. SubaruGenuineParts.com have them, but shipping from the States is a bit pricey:

Total will be $180.04 USD (232.13 AUD). Better, but still not great.

As for wreckers, not sure what kind of wreckers you have around there but none of the ones around here would sell the stubs out of a gearbox and would rather sell the whole box, at a premium!

- $182.14 + $13.50 shipping... even better.

EDIT: $28.44 for shipping. Their calculator is misleading.

I've been told the correct part numbers for the seals are:
806730041 right
806730042 left

Thanks for the offer, but I think the wife would kill me if I spent much more at this point.

I only need the stubs and seals now, and I think I've found some going cheap.

Found someone willing to sell me second hand stubs. Replacement seals for tailshaft, input shaft and front diff on their way from Partsouq.com. Believe I'll soon have everything I need.

I have a 3.9 ratio open rear diff which I installed this weekend. The filler plug was seized tight. I had to be dodgy and jack the car up, put my breaker bar on with an extension, then lower the jack so the weight of the car did the work. That plug was so stiff that the housing had to crack before it did. Luckily the crack isn't deep, is very fine, and near the top of the filler hole so unlikely to leak.

The box came with the shifter, which I've already installed. With my shifter knob the gear stick sits a bit higher to allow room for the reverse lock out. Not sure I like it, might take another look at it once I have the car up and running.

Shame about the rear plate cracking. Should've applied some gentle heat to it first, it might have avoid a crack.

I guess you could always have it welded depending on how close it is to the thread.

And I hope you'll be adding pics of your work!

Cheers

Assuming you mean the rear cover not the diff housing just swap the cover over from another R160

Here's a photo of the crack. I did try some gentle heat, freeze and release, among other things until I resorted to dropping the car on to the extended breaker bar as a desperate last try.

- Yes, but to be honest the crack is fairly fine and I'm too lazy. I will just see if it leaks before pulling the diff all out again.
