Hi Guys,

I hope someone can help me with the following:

I currently have a 2007 STI, engine has been playing up and most people pointing out the headgasket issue,

Im thinking if i can transplant a engine from a later model STI, 2014, 2015 or 2016

Will have lower kms and hopefully wont have the same issue as the current sti engine.

would this go straight in? so i need the wiring harness or can use the existing?

as someone has advised thats the late model sti has a double overhead cam and the 2007 sti dosent, not sure how correct this info is.

Thanks in advanced

Both STI's will have DOHC(double over head cams).

But the later engines have dual AVCS or cam advance/retard system.

The later 257 have the same crappy piston that your early 257 has, so no advantage going to that option.

Just replace the head gaskets as required.

If your looking for more power in the future maybe consider fitting proper forged pistons while the engine is out.
