Hi,

Looks like noone will be coming at all next month? Explain.

Cheers,
Nik

Heya Nik, yeah - I'll be honest... The decreasing site stats are a bit of a concern to me really - unfortunately I think a few people that were previously visiting and posting on this site have made it quite unpleasant for others to be a part of. This has happened in the past as well and it takes time to recover. To be honest - things seem to have ramped down since the general thread was moved off the front page, however I feel this is a sacrifice we've had to make as it helps keep the front of the site tidy and not just filled with off topic ranting and raving.

Will need to put some serious time in to trying to work this one out , open to suggestions though.

Hi, I appreciate your measured response. Just so you know, my comment was a silly joke relating to the fact there is no data on the graph for the month of April. The best jokes are the ones you have to explain... right? :D Cheers, Nik

Well, our cheerful little forum is growing quite nicely.

We now have 330 members and we're getting around 1 million hits a month from almost 2000 unique visitors. Best month we've had was September with 1044616 hits.

Well done!

- Alex.

Check that against your most recent Jan, Feb, and extrapolated Mar figures and I think you'll see a downward trend.
What is a "unique visitor"? Is it a non registered visitor to the site or spammer, as there are really only 20-30 active members on the site, or is it registered users revisiting?
As Tony Montana would say:
In this country, you gotta make the money first.
Then when you get the money, you get the power.
Then when you get the power, then you get the women.

Unique visitor is each unique person (or connection) visiting the site.

So a 'hit' is a page load, I could accumulate 10,000,000 hits per month if I sat there and refreshed the page or clicked on links 10,000,000 times. However it would be from 1 unique visitor (myself).

If you (Frank) and I shared that load of 10,000,000 to 5,000,000 each - there still would be 10,000,000 hits but with 2 unique visitors.

It's how most webstat counters work man, it's not spin.

It tells the stats, that's all it does.

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

Stats update for the site. I don't have the stats for the rest of 2010 on me - will need to find them in a backup from the old site host (stats data was lost with the site move unfortunately).

Hi,

We bank some pretty serious bandwidth on here. Nice to see the serious sections of the forum being used a lot more at the moment.

Cheers,
Nik

Agree Nik, it is good to see.

Quite a surprising amount of usage to be honest, site isn't incredibly bandwidth intensive either. I was having a talk with Luke (XoN) about the OZLiberty site statistics a little while ago and the amount of bandwidth that site chews through was crazy, think was over 40gigs a month - perhaps even more. I think they got/get quite a lot more hits than Subyclub though, but definitely interesting to see what adds up to what.

Wouldn't that hurt it?

Haha I don't think so Dylan :P It's averaging around the 6-7GB mark. 40GB might have been the total for the server or something, but certainly not for Ozlib on it's own.

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

Oh....

Actually I misread, it's 6-7TB, not GB.
