Well my bike turned 10 this year so I decided to give it a clean. I started with a wash but evolved........
I decided that the fairings needed a refresh so I got some new stickers from customgixxer.com.
I also decided to replace the radiator as my old one was stuffed with holes everywhere. This led to me noticing every bolt and nut that gets the weather being rusty so I replaced all of them. I then went over the engine and replaced or steel wooled then rust proofed them. The pair system which had been modded was rusted so I replaced it and gave the engine a massive clean.
A lot of the rubber hoses were looking hard so they got replaced too. Samco FTW. I have a BMC aircleaner so it got a clean and re-oil too. I lubed the clutch and throttle cables too. Brakes got new EBC pads and fluid and I checked the front wheel bearings too. I moved into the muff and repacked the Yoshi RS3 and managed not to wreck it although many times I thought I would. Thje frame got a clean inside and out too. Rear wheel bearings and bolts got replaced. New RK 520 chain and Talon sprockets. Finally I fully cleaned the plastics. Engine ice now fills the new rad and it sounds great. Lots of breaking in of stuff, its like a new bike.
So to those who update their bike every 2 years, and I know heaps of blokes who do, don't. This is more fulfilling and you learn a heap too.

Nice bike, a mate of mine had a K3 gsxr600 in the blue and white scheme which was really nice. Was tempted to buy it off him when he was selling as it was mint. The early gsxr's are such a big chunky bike though, they feel pretty weighty too which is funny cos the new ones are the smallest and most comfortable of the lot. Bit of work involved but I bet it was completely worth it. If only I bought a 1L I would probably keep my current bike for longer than a few years. I seem to end up with a new vehicle every year lol.

Funny you know my bike is bigger and bulkier than the new ones but I rode a K9 and my bike felt smaller and nimbler. Probably the ohlins and tre and bits, I was stoked. More go too. :D

Nice work Rob and kudos for having a go. Funny how these things escalate! I pulled down my RZ350 (we're talkin' a FEW years ago) for a quick re-ring.......18 months later it was done...with new paint on the rims and frame, custom paint on the fairing and a full suspension and brake rebuild. Some close up pics would be good!

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
