As a few of you already seen my grill on the recent cruise I had a little mishap when I closed my bonnet... I forgot the that latch sticks out and end up cracking the grill when I closed it...

Now the question is, should I modify the grill or shorten the latch so it doesnt hit the grill?

Hi, Personally I'd rather modify the grill than the latch. Seems the latch could be harder to replace? Cheers, Nik

Hi, Even if you didn't need to modify for the latch, that grill is awesome! Cheers, Nik

So the does the latch protude through the grille? If you shorten the latch, but then decide to refit a standard grille, will you be able to access the latch? Id mod the grille.

the standard grill has a section down the middle that joins the top n bottom. The latch sits in behind that...

Im not sure wat i could do 2 grill to make it a sleek design

Could you mount mesh mid way through the width of the grill surround to cover any indent you need to create for the latch?

I'd say not to mess around with the latch. There is a reason thst all of the other grills you see, including aftermarket ones are designed around it. Get ther RFRB one and save yourself the headache.

$150+ shipping... Rather muck around and make one up... I have my factory grill on atm so theres no prob there and I have all the materials at home to fiddle around with the grill... I mite glue the centre part back in but smoothed out with body filler...

I'd go the RFRB one. But personally, I'm not a huge fan of colour coding and if I had a gen3, I'd be interested in the JDM "L7" grill as the black would contrast nicely with the white car. But each to their own...

The one I modded was originally like this but was cracked and missing bits off it...

Valentine's day? Whipped. All mine cost me was whatever 2L of pineapple juice cost.... Don't buy a legacy grille. Your car isn't a legacy. Simple. So don't pretend to make it something it's not, else you'll be subjected to being the focal point of hilarity. There's a bit of a trend of this happening around here, and it's somewhat a monotonous trend. Go the RFRB grille. If cash is the issue, figure out an alternative solution to your current problem.
