My mate has one at work, flashed a CEL code last night.

Went to check it how you would on a Liberty (plug the two plugs together under the steering wheel)
But there seems to be no unplugged diag cables at all.

Does anyone know how it's done? Or is it only done with OBDii now?

The cables might actually be under or behind the glovebox carpet on the passenger side..

that's where the diganostic connectors are in my GT, same year model.

The B4 had them under the dash on the drivers.. but the GT is on the passenger near the actual ECU.

No worries.. if not, just connect straight to OBDII and see what happens.. might not need connectors..

I don't think mine were green connectors either, just plain white ones?.. can't remember..

I think that this model actually didn't have diagnostic connectors like the older models.

The only way to check for codes is to use an OBD-II reader.

That's whats freaky.. I think my conenctor is only for write access to the ECU, but read should be just by direct plug-in.

This.
You'll need a scanner to check it, or you can pay Subaru $60 (!!!!) to do it for you.

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

Thanks Luke.

He was going to take it to an Auto-Electrician to do it. I'll let him know.

you need a tactrix cable and learning view.

cable costs around $150 or so, learning view is free. able to view codes and erase/reset.

cable allows you to do a lot more (tuning, disable codes etc)

MY07 GT spec B

No he doesn't. ;)

He's just about to sell it, so he just wanted to check it and fix the problem. :)

Simple code scanner from dick Smith is a whole lot cheaper than a tactrix cable.

I know this is dredging up a really old topic, but I have been told that it takes 3 separate times (or a continuous problem, that gets picked up every time the ECU scans the system) for it to log a fault code. Vehicle is an 02 B4. Although, I have seen the check engine light flash up once on idle with the new engine (04 Spec C). Any truth to this?

Cheers,
Ben

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. To be stripped and scrapped in time.
