any main issues i need to know/steer clear of?
and any personal experiences with turbo'ing this model engine would be great.
i don;t know a whole lot about the mechanics of this engine, but i do know the basics
(i'm only new on here so i hope this is the right section to post this)

Don't mean to be a wet blanket but going to go right ahead and say it.. Dont bother turbo'ing the 2.5 - they are terrible engines mine blew up at 80,000kms - also well known for headgasket failures.
My suggestion would be
1) Buy a front cut from a WRX or GTB(if you have too). This will come with all parts needed.
2) Send the looms up to AMauto to have them spliced, and joined. (if you buy the GTB front-cut you wont have to splice the looms).
3) Get a mechanic, or a few friends to do the conversion for you... (I work in IT and managed to do it, Its hard but was a valuable experience).
4) Drive away in something much more reliable than a bolted on EJ25 turbo setup.
I don't believe there are any turbo kits for the EJ25, as you would need to change the heads? compression ratio's, ECU and a few other things I think.

just buying a suitable intercooler setup and turbo and exhaust would cost you well over a frontcut price
you also would need a lot of work done to the internals eg, pistons, new turbo heads, etc etc all adds up
but at the end of the day its up to you how you want too go about it
also getting a frontcut means you have every piece to the puzzle, no running around looking for little bits and pieces

I was considering this with my wagon. Upon further research I promptly ditched the idea, and went with a STi Ver3 half cut.
As said above, the amount of work you would have to do to make it reliable, would far outweigh the costs and benefits of getting a half cut.
PM fatdon on here, I think he has a GTB engine which would be a better go. Or smash up eBay.
With regards to wiring, as others have suggested, send em up to AL at AMAuto, I sent mine up there.
I tried to do the wiring myself, and gave up after looking at the loom on the ground.
So, at the end of the day, ditch the 25, crank out some sort of factory turbo engine. Most EJ20Ts should bolt straight in?
Oh, and welcome to SC mate.
Cheers,
Shazza

I'll get flack for mentioning this, but here goes, there's always the option to sell your current car (if it's in decent condition go for it) and purchase say...a GT-B or even an RX to convert. GX + Decent Conversion price stacks up against a GT-B price as around the same.
Nick
If thy tint is dark and thy wheels are black thou car be declared b11tchin'
So you can run it on 6psi with an rx fuel pump?

Built > Bought.
With regards to above.
Expensive > Convinience.

Unless you rebuild the motor its never going to be better. Conversions always end up with dodgy little things.

Of course, if you don't know what your doing, or you don't want something semi unique, then buying an already turbod model is the way to go.

i was just curious as to what can be done,
i am going to save and buy a turbo subaru down the track though, it seems like the best place to start, because i can add and change things. starting with an already finished canvas, and changing/swapping seems to be alot easier.
