Hi folks
I just fitted a CAI to my 2.5 GT.
Was all fine for a while until the engine light came om, cruise light started flashing
and car was locked into Sport Mode.
I didn't drive any different than it used to, and after a while the light went off again.
But last night it appeared yet again and is still on.

Anyone else experienced this or have any clue as to what the light would be
coming on for?
If it's broke use a cable tie.

You didn't remove or knock off any wires?

Get it scanned for codes.

Check to make sure all the clamps and hoses are back on properly. You may have an airleak.

I reckon you damaged your AFM when you were installing it.. or something is in there..

are you using more / less fuel?

take out the AFM and spray with with some Contact Cleaner.. unless you poked your fingers in the thing, then it's done for good.

I had the Hyperflow in guard CAI, and never had that problem

Na about the same amount of fuel as normal, what sort of contact cleaner would you suggest?

You can get spray for cleaning the air filter specifically from Autobarn for about $25.

This may throw a code.

Air leak between AFM and throttle body.

Is it still running the OEM air filter?

Could well have been an o2 sensor asking for help.
If the car is running a little richer in cold air, it could be making the ECU scratch its head. Nothing to dramatic.

i highly doubt it is the AFM, if it happened soon after you fitted the CAI it will probably be the ECU.

When you change to an aftermarket CAI this affects the housing of the AFM. Bigger pipe + your ecu not knowing about increase in volume of air = lean mixtures. You are going to need to plug in a scanner/tactrix cable and read the codes to know for sure...

This isn't something that the ECU learns it is a set table in the ECU. High RPMs + Bad scaling could lead to very rich or very lean AFR's. I'd get it checked before taking the car for a fang again!

Go to rip-co (Repco) and buy maff sensor cleaner by crc.. Cost 20.00

Best stuff and proper for what you're after.. Or as Alex said go to jaycar though, the new dick smiths don't keep it anymore

If it's completely rooted, I have a spare one for you.

Don't be a tight ass and use brake cleaner!!

Doubt it, if its caused by lean mixtures, as Alexxx said.
closed loop circuit is drawn from predefined tables.

Talked to a mechanic at work, he reckons that if the MAF sensor was stuffed it wouldn't run properly at all.

He said that because of the different rate and perhaps angle that air would be moving past the sensor that it may just be confused and turning on the CEL.
I will properly clear it and then see if it comes back.

If it still comes back i may just put the airbox back on. :(
Has anyone ever ran the airbox with no resonator before?
If so, is there much induction noise?

If you're using a pod its entirely possible that its causing bad air flow.

google, Laminar air flow.

This is the main reasons why pods blow.
