What Brands of oil do you use in your cars, Turbo or N/A? and which weight is it?(Thats Thickness For the Noobs)? In the B4 i use Motul 4100 Turbolight 10w40 In my Outback i used Castrol Magnatec and it dosent like seems to be too thin for it, well thats what i feel anyway, now i use the Nulon 10w30 as well In the Fozzas i use (05 Nulon 10w30) and in the (99 Nulon High Km Oil 20w50)

ok here we go... Royal Purple 10/40 - 3.5/5 Castrol Edge - 10/40 3.7/5 Motul Synthetic - 10/60 3.7/5 Fuchs Synthetic - 10/40 4.1/5 I rate the oild based on Price and performance.. The royal purple, did nothing for me, burnt quick and was the most expensive. The Castrol edge is also pricey, but lasted the 5000k's and still had more to go, but once again, is very pricey. FUCHS - Cheapest of all by far (I mean $20 cheaper!), doesn't burn, no bad engine sounds, and still holds itself even after a good beating, I gotta say, if you haven't tried it, give Fuchs a go.

OEM at the moment. :P but will be moving to Motul next service as I don't plan on taking my car to Subaru to get bent over and reamed for the 100K service.

Wouldn't know, never change my oil, what is it anyway.....oh hang on, you mean the Penrite semi-synth, oh yeh, subarus love semi synth for those who might not know, it stops foaming in the lifters which prolongs life and stops tappet noise which subarus love to do, especially old RS's, they suffered from oil foaming big time. End of lesson.

My mechanic told me to use 10/60 Castrol Edge in my STI motor but 5 or 10/40 in my WRX motor, this was from run in on both of them having just been re built, reckons the STI needs the thicker oil as it'll get a harder time & he's building high performance Subi engines every day at MMS.

Mobil Formula S2 10w-40 semi synthetic in the mighty 2.5 n/a GenIII.
Changed every 5000kms ;)

Are these the ones that used to suck air in through the oil pump seal, aerating the oil so the lifters tap?

also the cause of big end bearing failure in rexy's, oil foams at the crank and all the heavier stuff just moves to the outer case (cosworth cranks are specially engineered to minimise foaming and almost eliminate it)

anyway

2.5L DOHC EJ25D & 2.2L SOHC EJ22
both run Nulon HI Tech 10-40
My gen1 has never been quieter, i ran castrol GTX3 for a while but it lasted nowhere as long before both cars got noisy
Nulon has my vote for everything lol and its Aussie :D

I use Castrol Edge Sport 10w-60 fully synthetic, changed every 5000ks, comes out clean and engine runs silky smooth.
