Hey, thought i would start a little build thread, nothing to major is planned for the car at the moment but I'm working on some small things like suspension and exterior looks :D.

1: Rear Spacers (20mm)

I added these just to give the car a little bit more of an aggressive look and believe it or not it actually added a little bit to my handling :)

Attached File  Spacer on Wheel.jpg   306.51KB   16 downloads
Attached File  Spaced Wheel.jpg   261.38KB   14 downloads

2: HID Kit (6000K)

Thought i would install some nice new lights to give the car a better look at night !

Attached File  HID Setup.jpg   257.02KB   10 downloads
Attached File  Lights.jpg   95.97KB   7 downloads

3: Sway Bars (20mm Front, 22mm Adjustable Rear )

Bought these about a week ago when i got a nice pay check :) they were a bit painful to install because i didnt have access to a car lift. As you would imagine, a lot of swearing and cursing (some of those bolts were on real tight !!). However they work wonders now for my cars body roll and im im pretty happy with the install.

Attached File  Sway Bars.jpg   292.89KB   6 downloads
Attached File  Car Jacked Up.jpg   254.15KB   10 downloads
Attached File  Dale Annoying Bolt.jpg   254.57KB   12 downloads

Yeah, so thats it for now, i think im buying some coil overs very soon and would appreciate some input on installing those as im not too experienced with suspension. :D

Hey mate, looks good!
With the swaybar install it's easier to to install with the car on the ground (if you can get under) or with the car on jackstands and then put a scissor jack underneath the brake hub/ anywhere you can get the clamp to jack up the suspension.

This releases alot of the pressure on the swaybar. Bit late now but good for future reference.

yeah that sounds intelligent :D. I have a question/concern with my rear one. It moves laterally about 1cm in each direction and occasionaly when i do a hard and fast right turn it makes a metal on metal squeak noise in the back left corner. Any advice ??

No idea mate, are the bolt for the mounts tightened properly? Did you use the grease etc supplied? After installing mine, it had Sweet F all movement and didn't make any noise..

Yeah they are definately tight and pretty greased up. I have ball joints that connect to them..maybe these are loose ?

Hi,

20mm spacers are a bit over the top and can be dangerous, you are putting extra stress on the wheel studs and potentially can cause them to break.

if you want better handling, especially while you are still young and new to driving get some driver training, it does actually work.

Thanks for the advice, but thats what the sway bars are for, the spacers are purely for looks. Do you think i should take them off though ?

"believe it or not it actually added a little bit to my handling"

the spacers weren't bought to give it better handling, my comment was clearly stating that i was surprised to notice the better handling..go easy man

No worries, i do appreciate it, but as a poor uni student im finding it hard to afford these parts alone :P If it helps they are bolt on and made for subaru liberty's and i think they are hub centric... :)

IMO take the spacer off, sell them to some idiot on eBay and put it towards something like some better suspension..
I'm pretty sure wheel spacers are illegal and if you get in a prang your fooked.

Other than that, the rear sway bar is a really good upgrade!

Cheers,
Sam

Spacers make baby jesus cry.

Well, not just baby jesus, but your bearings, hubs and studs, potentially causing a wheel to fall off. Food for thought.

But finally, its refreshing to see an actual build thread, where someone is wielding a spanner. Chucking in LEDs isn't a build.

Does Changing your springs qualify as build?

A threads a thread... I didn't know what else to call it.

Nice mate, some good mods going on, particularly the swaybars!

What do you want the coilovers for?? Ive had two sets in mine and some modded billies aswell?
If you want them just for the street, a cheap set of BC's or K-sports (i liked these ones!,walts
has my old ones) will suffice....but if you want them for the track at all, spend a bit extra ;)

Bilstein PSS9s

I got a price on some Bilstien coilovers a while back, they dont have PSS9's for the gen3...
But once i heard the price i went to Teins lol

I think they were PSS (so not as crazy as the PSS9) and they were over $5500!!!

But ya get what ya pay for i suppose??
