Part 1: Success! Lesson Learnt: Microfiber is F***ing amazing!!!!!!
After removing the h6 badge and most of the gunk underneath there was still a faint but visible outline. I scrubbed it with a rag and the 3M wax and grease remover but that didn't seem to work.
My Dad showed me a microfiber sponge when i was little called 'White magic' (nothing racial)and bragged about how it will get off anything. I found some of it in the garage and put the 3M stuff on it and it came up looking better than new! Im quiet sure you can find this stuff in coles or woollies.
For anyone curious about the process Ive listed the way i did it below.
1. Fishing line to cut the badge away, i didn't heat it and it came off only too easy.
2. Used my finger to rub off the bulk of the adhesive.
3. After learning this is the quick way, i used the white magic majigi with the adhesive remover stuff and rubbed if gently but firmly. It comes up better than new.
4. Just wiped off smudges and dirt with a wet rag.
Pictures below!
This is the rag that fell from the heavens
The stuff i used, doesn't affect paint but i wouldn't mind better that the whitemagic with just water on it will do the trick.
Thats the H6 emblem after i rubbed the bulk of it off. The microfiber on this brings it straight off
After, but before wiping it down
Fishing line behind the badge, like so...
Under the badge
after rubbing
Finished
End Result
Now i need to replace the outback badge with a chrome Subaru one, thats part 2.
Figure most people might not care, but hopefully this may help someone in the future.
