ECU Swap for Gen4

twinturbosubaru's Photo twinturbosubaru 31 May 2011

Can anybody advise from first or second hand experience (no guesses please) whether a Series 2 Gen4 ECU will work in a Series 1 Gen4 ?

I am currently considering options with my car and looking to know if the Si drive from the S2 model will work in the S1 model, plus there are some other features I am looking for, but need to know if the 2 ECU's are interchangeable, or if anything else needs to be done/swapped to make it work.

Thanks
Paul

Paul, when swapping ECU's the remote key signature goes with it so you will need matching keys to the ECU. Im not sure if the receiver is part of the ECU or seperate.

Keys definatly have to be coded and matched with the ECU.

Also, have you thought of whipping out the Tactrix cable and trying your hand at open source tuning? Im sure you could find a diagram of the 3D tables online somwhere which have been "fixed" then just simply edit your values to match?

EDIT: Paul, you can get your keys re-linked with the ECU at a Subaru Dealership, oviously for some coin.

Heres some info about DWB tuning on the ECU at ASN forums.

Paul, sign up for Liberty.ASN and have a read through this 3.0R tuning.

This guy seems to specialise in 3.0R tuning. Seems to be some valuable info here
