Engine problems?

Got some issues with the car at the moment and looking for some advice. For anyone that doesn't know its a Gen III Liberty
First off I would like someone that has some more knowledge on this engine to tell we what is at the back of the motor on the passenger side just above the steering rack boot, that could be leaking oil and coolant? I have noticed small amounts of oil and coolant around that area. Will get some pictures up to get a better idea of what im talking about......
Second is today the car has played up abit, I was driving the wife to work tonight and under abit of acceleration the car was kinda cutting out? Like it felt like the engine wasn't getting fuel or something as the power would cut out. It happened through out the gears, Just wondering what this could be I checked and no error codes are showing. I took a look at my spark plugs and number 1 was kinda loose. Could this have caused this kind of issue?
Also while looking at the car after this issue I was wondering were the fuel filter is located on this car? I find it at all in the engine bay? I was thinking this could also cause the issue if it has not been changed, as I had forgotten to change this when I first bought the car.
So any help on these issues would be great and any suggestions to what I could try or a detail I have missed please let me know
Thanks,
Tim

Hi mate, cant really help on the other issues, but im pretty sure the fuel filter is on your fuel pump in the tank (ie sock type filter)Also while looking at the car after this issue I was wondering were the fuel filter is located on this car? I find it at all in the engine bay? I was thinking this could also cause the issue if it has not been changed, as I had forgotten to change this when I first bought the car.
But my old engine did the cut out under acceleration when my knock sensor started to go,though mine always gave an error code when it happened? so yours sounds different??

Fuel filter is in the tank. Seat out job, not hard, but have to take it abit easy cous the housing can break.

OMG lol, why do they make it so hard to change something that would be changed a bit in its life? I would of thought it would be around the engine bay.

some models it is on the passenger strut tower, others had different gear in its place (mine has a secondary air pump there) so the filter is in the tank. makes it a pain in the arse to change out!

Not hard, only have to take out the base which is 2 bolts.
And you only have to do it every 100k km.

I will have to sort out a time with you, Although it has not done it again since posting this? It got really bad, Like I would floor it and it would feel like I hit a bring wall and not take off. Would still move but not how it should. But yeah still gonna change the fuel filter as its close to 200,000k's now so should need doing.....
My car was doing a similer thing, i could drive it normally fine but as soon as I went to give it a boot full it would cough and fart like it was running out of fuel. I pulled out my fuel pump, it wasn't that dirty but gave the pick up a clean with compressed air and it seems better now
Yeah thats my problem, it would drive normal under light acceleration but as soon as I went past halfway would not take off like it use to.

Will have to get one from you soonish, I think I am going to do it even though its not doing it again yet.

I don't work there anymore - as of Friday just gone...
If you still go there (Capital in Fyshwick or Mitchell) and tell them you know me, they'll still look after you.

Intermittant stuttering can be a number of things, leads, plugs, fuel ect. I would hazard a guess at the fuel filter or a spark plug lead. Get yourself a can of upper engine cleaner for good measure too.

It might have just been fuel or a slight blockage in the line? As it went really bad for a day and then after putting in a tank of BP ultimate, it has gone back to its old self....

my old lib was like this and then it got so bad it would drive ok until i hit a hill or a got on the freeway, started getting to a point where it would hit a wall at like 80 if accelerating moderatly or going up a hill, then it would start stuttering, then it would shake the shit out of the car as it lost 2 -3 cylinders and then conk out..
wait a minute or so start it back up and it would run rough then come back to normal.. i survived doing UEC every 3 weeks but then it got so bad i took to the stealership, paid $110 and had them do a injector flush.. the car was then fine.

The manual says its the part right next to the fuel pump but this is small paper rolled around itself, but the one that is listed for my car is a canister with an in/out hose?

My rev E Gen III has a filter that looks like a small roll of toilet paper that sits inside a metal canister next to the fuel pump. IIRC you just unscrew the canister.
I assume your earlier rev would be the same.
Post some pics?
