Niko, thought of putting UPS's on your PC's? they are not expensive and they filter the power coming through and will maintain power to the PC's during the changover for you.

Yeah I have been through so bloody many of them though. And to buy a replacement battery is not far off buying a whole new unit! I'm looking at two right now that have died! Argh! I think I've bought ten in three years.

@Alex: No. I can get this fixed for like hunnid bucks. Macs are notorious for not handling brown power, so we're not even considering it. The reason I have power supply/HD issues so often is because the power flicks from generator to normal, and back again, every day. If we forget to turn off a computer (shit happens) then it's just getting slapped every time. So inevitably, a Mac which is known for being weaker in handling inconsistent power delivery, will also break. And it WONT cost a hunnid bucks to fix it.

Chooch.
Buy a macbook. Built in UPS (battery... duh.)
My macbook is three years old. No dramas.
My macbook pro is four years old. No dramas.
Both are running latest OS (Lion)
Not once have I had ANY dramas with it.
Just sayin'.
Morgs. Bring lube. I'll bring the stitches.
Hey Alex, you own a Macbook? What computer does your husband own?

I bet your Macbook looks great next to your iPhone when using them simultaneously while drinking a short black at Starbucks.
