Alternator plug wiring... HELP.

Alex's Photo Alex 23 Oct 2011

Doing alternator plug replacement whilst half asleep wasn't a good idea.

Square plug alternator circa 1997.

White wire where...black wire where? (whilst looking at alternator from the front of the car, top down)

Please help!

Cheers

Alex

Should put a disclaimer, I dunno what loom or alternator that is :) possibly v3 sti?

Though the wire size should also help you!

Glad I could help rather than be helped for a change :P

I actually noticed that the other day, I couldn't work out if there was meant to be one on there or not!

Where would I get a shroud from?

Alex, sounds like you had the same problem as me..

My old alternator was that type of plug.. The one I got from shaz was just a two pin.. I didn't know which one went where.. so we took a guess and it was right. Was risky as ****, but it worked.
