Cheah.

I went there.

Just a general whinge here. You guys do it on the GT thread, so suckmycawk. Ballsdeep.

I actually work for a living. I don't sit in front of a computer all day, and moan about how bad SOPA, and how it'll affect my internet porn collection.

So coming home and trying to catch up with what you kents have written is shittingmetotears. Especially with the amount of irrelevant, unintelligent dribble some of you that have managed to evade the coat hanger whilst in utero.

So I'm taking a stand.

I will start threads, and participate in others.

I would ask you do the same. And start contributing to the content of the forum, rather than make the GT thread fatter, and loose valuable content in there.

You have a question? Start a new thread. That way, when someone comes along later, content is easily indexable and able to find via search, and perhaps turn this forum into some sort of valuable resource (and actually not be a laughing stock among other communities).

I will not sift through that garbage thread.

SC is one of the very few forums that allows a shitcunt of a thread to happen.

So no, I haven't been antisocial of late, (I do have a life too, remember). I just can't stand to see what vomit you guys convert to ascii sometimes.

And I do believe that I speak for many others regarding this issue.

As I last remembered, this is a car forum. Not a Justin Bieber fapfest.

Thanks for reading.

I like the GT for its banter and happy to contribute to it but, I agree with Alex on this, too much tech advice is locked in there.

I will no longer offer tech advice in the GT.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

OK, I may have come out looking a little cranky with my initial post.
(before I had my morning coffee.)

But you get the gist.

C'mon lads. Let's pick up things a little. A little housekeeping would go a long way.

Yeah I think tech advice should be pulled out of GT, and more new threads should be made. I think people tend to use it because its like a chatroom or image board, its less formal than making a thread for minor things.

Its not the only place that does it though, a lot of forums I frequent have 'Social Boards' or chat rooms.

As probably the most guilty person on this forum for talking pure shit I think I am in a good position to give a thumbs up to Alex's suggestion of tech talk out of gt so it can be found :)

I agree, to a degree.

GT is the closest thing that SC has to a social network, people talk on there, about shit, and thats all it should be.

Alex's main message that i agree with, is that if you want to talk about something that could help anyone else (I have a sound coming from my engine / what springs should i use / Walts raped my grandma and i dont know what to do?), make a thread about it, so it can be searched up in the right section.

But I enjoy the bullshit side of GT, sharing around pictures/videos, the social side of it.

I used to like the GT. Now I can't stand it.

And yeah, we're all guilty of it. Myself included.

It's become a toxic behemoth of a monster.

I'd get on, post something, get away from the computer, several hours at a time, get back, and there'd be thirty pages at times.

I used to sift it, but now I can't be stuffed.

Some of the tripe that I have to read just to get to a response I made?

Complete bollocks.

So what I'm proposing is this:

If you have a question, that's even not car related, how about posting a thread about it, instead of posting it in the GT? You never know your luck in a big city, perhaps a non GT regular may have the answer to it, and perhaps it may encourage a little more etiquette when people post things.

I can tell you right now, many many many people are turned off by the GT, myself included, and I believe its started to cause a rift and alienation in the general subyclub community.

Hi,

One of the main reasons we started the GT, if you recall, was because noone could help themselves from typing crap in all the technical threads.

Actions, on this one, will speak louder than words.

Cheers,
Nik

self control? it's a car forum i think there is nothing wrong with having a chat thread, but when there is more posts than any other area of the forum i think its a bit of a waste as a lot of members here have some good technical knowledge and experience to share with others.

Hi,

Everyone complained that the crap build up was taking away from the technical threads.

So a spot where crap could flow freely without harming anyone was introduced.

Now the complaint is noone is talking enough in the technical sections.

Like I said, actions will speak louder than words here.

If you think that's how you'd like to use the forum here to have a better experience, please, do it.

I'm not arguing with anyone.

Cheers,
Nik

I think GT is a great idea, a thread where we can talk all the shit we want and leave it out of the technical threads, so in saying that I will continue to use GT for its intended purpose and moving forward keep any tech talk out of GT :D.

If someone feels alienated by GT well what can I say.. that is kind of their issue, it is not intended to harm people and anyone can jump on and talk shit if they want otherwise they can very much choose to ignore its existence :D

So we all agree to be better at keeping tech talk out of GT and make proper threads for such talk where GT style banter is left out of it? :D :D

bring back chatbox, thats the reason GT went nuts.. it also stopped people asking tech questions because chatbox was limited on how much it stored so unless you were keen to sit there and keep the conversation going for a while, you got no answer.
but yes, since the GT gets created new all the time, i don't really bother, i post and run.. I work too much to try sift through 40 odd pages between visits.

Agree with Alex. If you dont bother with the GT then subyclub is a pretty boring place.

I use the GT to pretend I'm doing something constructive at work.

If I have a genuine question that I think others after me may benefit from, then ill post a thread.

I put up with people from amnesty, red cross and now the cancer council almost daily hounding me!! Throw in the greens, green peace, unhcr, save the forking children and I've well and truly hit my limit for the number of fuckstains wanting me to sign something or give money. Seriously cubts,  :fork: right off.
