I think from very quick research that I know the simple answer to this, but has anyone gone to great lengths looking into this? As I see it, the globes currently in the foz have their high and low beams in the same globe, so the single element HID's like I got for the Lib ain't gunna cut it unless we are happy with an illegal car with low beam only right? Am I just hopless and have not discovered someone doing a twin element HID conversion kit? Is there a JDM headlight for the 2000 model that could help with this? Anyone? Cheers, Rich.

You can get bi-xenon HID kits, it's not too hard. I can organise a set for you if you are interested for ~$200.

Not all of them are bi-xenon. Some have a xenon element for low beam, and a regular halogen element for high beam.

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

Not sure about that one, sorry - you could jus tget HIDs that are so blue that it'll counter the yellow  or turn it green, one or the other!!

hehe thanks :) it's where I spend my money now that I stopped modding my car.
Bi-xenon actually just has the one element - almost all the hi/lo HID kits have a magnetic switch in the globe to extend or retract the globe to give it highbeam reach. The really old kits used to have two globes and they were both off-axis - terrible idea and it mean that light spilt everywhere.

Not all of them are bi-xenon. Some have a xenon element for low beam, and a regular halogen element for high beam.

True, that was so 2001 though! :) Thankfully those days are over.

Anyone know what the new SH-series Forester has standard? How hard would it be to upgrade if they don't come with the bi-xenon lights?

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

Base models get halogens and the xs and xt models get hid's. Pretty sure they are low beam hid only.

Not too certain but I can't imagine it woud be too hard a job. I suppose the ballasts would come with the lights... You'll need to suss out whether they have any fancy self levelling devices or switches.

I reckon it wouldn't be cheap. Might be cheaper to retrofit some aftermarket ones like we did on the gen3's?

I'm already toting with the idea of getting some hid's in the gen4. Anyone done this that you know of? Might just try some 4000k globes to start with.

I might ask the guy at Subaru when I pick it up (not that i'd buy them from Subaru). I've been checking ebay/IM but can't really find any kits or anything. Might check out the retrofit'ige. Yeah the Gen3's were pretty painless.

You might not have to replace the whole headlight unit. It might be as easy as swapping over the assembly at the rear of the headlight for an HID one.

It'll cost you a squillion to get them from Subaru.

Wait until you get it to see what the lighting is like with the OEM setup. Might be good enough to live with!
I waited to see what the MY08 lighting was like and I like the lighting spread so much more on the Gen4 compared to the gen3, apart from it being a little yellow. I'm not even convinced that I need to swap the OEM over with an HID conversion.
