Regardless, putting a diff suited to a VL turbo 3.0L motor behind a puny little 1.8 should cope and withstand some serious beatings.

Would like to retain 4x114.3 if possible. Cbf changing my wheels.

Surely there are axles available to suit hilux diff that already have 4x114.3 stud pattern?

Or is fitting a hilux pretty much the same as an R31? (i.e. involve rewelding mounts anyways)?

AE86 Zenki rear diff out of the question? Better ratio/LSD options...

By the looks of the thread below, kouki T series would be the one to go for.
http://www.ae86drivi...full=1#post1097

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

Alexwski,

The fitting of a Hilux or R31 diff is going to require new diff mounts regardless. I've heard you can get away with running the whole R31 diff without having to shorten the axles, it just increases your rear track by a bit. I'm not 100% sure there was any Hilux diffs that came out with a 4x114.3 pattern from the factory.

By the looks of the thread below, kouki T series would be the one to go for.

Kouki T series is a great diff, simply bolts in. However, the Kouki has disc brake rear, whereas the Zenki is drum. If i was going to retain the standard handbrake, the Zenki would be the best choice, as drums lock up better then discs when it comes to the handbrake. The Kouki does have slightly larger axles, and disc brakes, but again, coupled to a CA18DET would be pushing its limits. As I mentioned earlier, people reccomend upgrading FROM a Kouki rear end when turboing a 4AGE, so it might be better off to just bite the bullet, and go custom from the get go.

Cheers,
Shazza

BTR78 was used in all manner of stout RWD vehicles. It's as strong as a 9", but lighter and cheaper.

Not a fan of the Datsun, but that other KE is mental. I really like the black on beige.

Might have to have a look into some 15x9 steelies. :)

Iain - Maybe this is to your fancy my friend.

I contacted that bloke with the CF bonnet and boots. His factory is actually near me, so I will be going to check out the quality of it shortly. ^^^

Bit of an update.

Car has FINALLY sprung a small oil leak, after constant valve bouncing from point of start in the morning. I've been trying SO damn hard to break this motor to no avail, so I suppose an oil leak is actually a bit of progress.

Picking up the S13 next week, and planning to strip it out the following weekend.

If anyone is interested in an S13 Silvia minus front seats, engine, gearbox tail shaft, shoot me a PM and come and pick it up. I have no need for the shell. Perfect donor car for an RB conversion. I only want $500 for the car.

Cheers,
Shazza

Ls1's seem to be the go these days!

Not that I've done any research on it, but I'd persume an sr20 set up from an s13 would be the simplest, easiest solution and probably best for my wallet.

I'm currently running it on a boat fuel / oil mix. Turns out it loves it.

Next step is to start adding small screws into the oil cap.

You could run it on kerosene strained through Rens jocks with a gravel feeder in the air filter and it will still run.

Baahaahhaahhahahahahahah!!

You can't kill a K series motor.

And if you do somehow, you can rebuild it for a fitty.
