GO STRAIGHT HERE!!
Evening all,
I sold my Liberty after I wanted a manual and was bored of my slow automatic boat.
This was her:
So I bought a 1985 323i, manual, with 145,000km on it.
This car was a dud, and is currently sitting in my driveway, unregistered, defected and as a scrap of metal worth peanuts.
So I bought another E30, a 1989 325iS, automatic, with 135,000km on it for $7000.
Little did I know what quality/bargain of a car I was purchasing. Since purchase, I've done research on these cars and only 180 were ever sold in Australia, only 40 being automatic, and only 8 being Lachsilber metallic, the colour of my car.
The day I bought her (with my friend being a poser):
325iS E30's were very unique and were a sport model. From the factory they came with the M-Tech II body kit (worth $4000 these days), bilstein shocks, M3 racing springs, close gear ratio gearbox, 16" BBS CH racing rims, projector headlights, high performance 2.5l straight 6 BMW M20 engine as well as a number of other luxury items including sunroof, premium audio system, leather recaro seating, climate control to name a few.
The previous owner was a mature, ex-BMW mechanic of 25 years, who had owned the car for just over 6 years. He had looked after the car meticulously. Paint is mint, interior was even more mint, only problem was a slight ding in the back right quarter panel and minor gutter rash.
He had spent lots of money on the car and his next plan was a manual conversion, but he was given a company car instead.
What he did was not aesthetic, but high performance engine mods.
- Shrick 288 degree cam
- High flow cat
- Genuine high performance extractors
- Miller MAF conversion
- 19lb injectors
- Chipped
- Expensive mongoose alarm
- Full sound system overhall, not lebo spec, thankfully
- Tyres were @ 95% tread
- Exhaust was very meaty and lumpy sounding, its awesome.
- Aswell as all the usual things that fail including radiator, wheel bearings, fuel tank getting rusty, CV's, axels, timing belt.
And this car only had 135,000km on it from factory!
Since then, I haven't really done much at all to it. I've bought super low springs, which I still haven't installed. I have put on the vehicle BBS RS 17" rims, smoked HID projectors, and installed a sub and amp.
Such a pleasure to drive this vehicle, it's so much more fun then my Suby, and on the dyno, this thing produced 151kw ATW with its shitty autobox 8 months ago.
The gearbox went on me a couple weeks ago, something about the clutchpacks, so I've invested in brand new manual components, with a used gearbox, pedal box and tailshaft. The conversion is getting done on the 30th April @ new era automotive @ brookvale.
I should be getting an extra 5 - 10kw from the manual conversion which is very exciting. In the future I may be looking at buying an LSD, as my current 4.10 open diff probably won't cut it.
All I've got to do is install the springs, and blacken out the chromed kidneys grilles and I'll be in business. Here was an older photoshop I did [smoked headlights, blacked grille and low], car almost sits like this now.
Here she is how she sits right now, after I installed the smoked headlights + HID's.
Ignore the plates, they were from my old 85' 323i and I haven't found it necessary yet to upgrade the plates to MY-89-BM
A link to higher res shots.
Please excuse the quality, my iphone is shitting itself.
Will post some updates after the manual box is in and its low
Also apologies if you don't have a 1920x1200 screen.

The plan is to drive this one around for a couple years till I'm off my P's and buy an XT Foz or GT lib for a daily and retire this one to the weekends, I've already had 3 people offer me $15k~ for this since I bought it.

Top stuff.
I should just convert to single, right?As soon as she hands it to you, slowly take of your pants, then, while staring her straight in the eyes rub it against the tip of you penis, while continuing your painfully intense gaze whisper to her;
"My eye is watering, this might be a bit hot"

I very much like the BMW looks sweet and 151kw ATW sounds as though it would get out of its own way.

My only advise would be to keep the stock parts in order to make the mods easily reverseable.
We are talking about a modern classic here.
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Am doing so. If/when time comes to sell, it'll be thrown back to factory original! My only advise would be to keep the stock parts in order to make the mods easily reverseable.

Neg, 80% of all E30's came with projectors from the factory, I just bought another set that were smoked.Nick, are those projectors a replacement for a 4" sealed beam?
Got a link?
Needs more low
