got the wiring around the correct way (99% sure) changed the low beam globes but still the drivers side low beam wont cooperate. must be an issue with the connections, maybe the soldering. the project continues

So OzLib has gone down. Does anyone have a link to another DIY? I'm half way through this conversion atm and starting to do this :dash2:

Bumping again, I found the mDIY guide on SLi helpful, but I had some trouble getting the low beams to stay on when the highs were switched on.

Basically, all the wires are the same colours on the stanard and JDM spec lights, so its just a case of splicing them to the correct colour wire on the JDM headlight plug. That was easy.

But, all the guides and DIY's say to earth out the low beam wire (yellow one) direct to the chassis. When I did this, I had no parkers or low beams, no matter which lights were switched on. So I've put it back to the original wiring config for the time being.

Can someone confirm exactly which wire, and where needs to be grounded? Also, at what point do I ground it? Straight from the headlight globe to the chassis? Or before the plug?

I can have a look for you on the weekend.

I remember i had the same problem and had to ground a different wire.

Have you got a wiring diagram for the car?

Yep, have the full wiring diagams for the whole car, and printouts of a couple of different DIY's. Grounding the low-beam didn't make sense to me, as it looks like the relay is on the ground wire, so earthing it between the light and the relay would mean you'd never get a circuit.
Somehow you need to create a circuit in the low-beam loop from the high beam circuit. I'll take another look at the wiring diagram and see what I can figure out.

Yeah that's what I thought, yellow wire earthed out... Don't know why it isn't working on mine when I earth it though.
Ah well, at least I have the lights in and working as standard. I'll try to figure it out laterz and report back.

Thanks again for the photo's Adam.

Maybe your earth point wasn't good enough? Can you try jumping it to the neg on the battery to eliminate that?

My projectors are still wired up wrong, low beam turns off when the high beam turns on.

Adam you need to show me where I went wrong.
